Continuing Education

There are more than 30 institutions of higher learning approximately within a 70 mile radius of Lakeside Corporate Center at PenMar. Extension and Continuing Education programs are available from a number of schools. A new University Systems of Maryland campus is scheduled to locate in downtown Hagerstown, with classes scheduled to begin in the spring of 2004. Some of the institutions currently available include:

Hagerstown Community College (HCC)

HCC offers more than 40 programs of study for transfer to a four-year institution. HCC is accredited by the Middle State Association of Colleges and Schools. Credit and non-credit enrollment totals over 13,000.

The Advanced Technology Center (ATC) at HCC contains 14 laboratories, a Distance Learning Center, and 3 special centers to assist manufacturing modernization. HCC's Technical Innovation Center is a business incubator which shares the laboratories of the ATC and provides project space and offices for entrepreneurs, start-ups, and existing manufacturers.

Hagerstown Business College

A private junior college since 1938, Hagerstown Business College offers 11 associate degrees and 9 certificate programs in the areas of business, allied health, legal assisting, graphic design and computer information technology. It is also a Microsoft Authorized Academic Training Provider. Students benefit from training on state-of-the-art equipment, instruction by credentialed faculty, and participation in internship experiences. Apartment-style housing is available.

Frostburg State University

Part of the University Systems of Maryland, Frostburg State operates a center in downtown Hagerstown that offers five Bachelor's programs (Accounting, Business Administration, Justice Studies/ Criminal Justice, Liberal Studies and Sociology) as well as Master's degrees in Business Administration and Education.
